Warri/Uvwie Taskforce Chairman Asiuwhu Urges Marshals to Enhance Environmental Monitoring and Enforcement”
Delta State Taskforce On Environment Chairman, Chief Godspower Omafuvwe Asiuwhu on Tuesday at the Governor’s Office Annex in Warri charged the newly inaugurated taskforce officials of Warri, Okpe, Uvwie and Udu on the need to enforce environmental cleanliness for the benefit of all
Speaking to members of the taskforce, the Chairman said ” Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda on environmental sanitation should be driven for a Cleaner Delta with a view to achieving visible result as quickly as possible”.
He therefore asked the environmental marshals to hit the ground running by swinging into action immediately to ensure a clean and hygienic environment in the State for a healthy living of the people.
Continuing, Asiuwhu urged the newly-inaugurated taskforce officers in Warri and environs to exhibit a high level of commitment to the task ahead, and warned the marshals against unethical behaviours, noting that their work must be done with utmost sense of Professionalism
Recently, a workshop geared towards providing the needed guidance for the newly recruited Environmental Marshals and Supervisors was organized to keep them abreast of the rudiments of their job, especially while on the field, and in line with the MORE Agenda
It will be recalled that during the inauguration of the newly reconstituted marshals at the Government House in Asaba, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Dr. Kingsley Emu reminded them of the enormous work and energy that must be put in place to achieve a clean environment across the State
He challenged them to look at areas such as Environmental degradation and pollution, check trading under high tension lines, displaying of goods on the pedestrian walk ways, road medians, on top of paver water channels and other areas likely to inhibit the free movement of vehicles or persons.
The State Taskforce on Environment will begin to go round to enforce compliance with state environmental laws and Environmental, and offenders would be made to face the full wrath of the law.
